Daughters of Hawai`i

Membership is open to any woman who (1) has a direct lineage to, or (2) has been legally adopted by a resident of Hawai`i prior to 1880, with no restriction as to race. It is very important that the Membership Committee be able to clearly delineate a direct lineage for all individuals who submit applications to the organization. In addition, each applicant must be sponsored by a Daughter's member who knows the applicant personally. The sponsor must sign the application, and is also responsible for getting the signatures of two other members as well. The Daughters of Hawai`i has five membership drives each year. After being reviewed by the Membership Committee, applicants are presented at a general business meeting before being formally approved by the Board of Directors. New members are formally welcomed at a Pai`ina in January.
